SYNOPSIS / Lili, a young mother, lives with her gambler husband in a remote part of Sichuan.
Lonely and poor, she heads for the city in a bid to earn enough money to save her dying father.

 

DIRECTOR / ZOU Jing, born in 1984, she is a Chinese director and writer based out of Shanghai and Los Angeles. Jing came from literature background but she found her calling when she began working at Shanghai International TV station as a director/editor on documen-taries.As a fanatic lover of literature and philoso-phy, Jing has always loved writing. Lili Alone is her first short film. Her ultimate goal is to write and direct feature films that explore the truths in modern China life.

     癔症  THE RAT

SYNOPSIS / On a stormy night, a drunken man stumbles back home. Vomiting accompanied by vertigo, he sees two huge rats in his house. Disgusted and cranky he desperately attacks the two rats hoping they will go away. The morning after the wind blows everything away, leaving only the broken family portrait.

DIRECTOR / Yuanqing Cai, animation director, concept artist. Born in Xuchang, Henan, now lives in Hangzhou. He graduated from China Academy of Art and Gobelins, L'ÉCOLE DE L'IMAGE. Founder and director of Momiqimio Production. His past work include “The Rat”, “COFFIN” and “EveryFlower”. His works have been nominated for the 48th Annie Awards, won the 3rd Feinaki Award, Grand Prize in Tokyo Anime Award Festival, Best Short Film at FIRST Film Festival.

SYNOPSIS / Xueli, a Chinese teenager, got into an argument with her mother during the dress hunt for the welcome party at her new school in the States. Having settled for a traditional Chinese qipao but with a fashionable pleated look, Xueli leaves her hometown with the dress feeling as content as one can be. However, she quickly finds out that everything is far off from her expectation when she lands in her new world.

DIRECTOR/ Siyu Yan received her Directing MFA degree from Beijing Film Academy in 2021. She currently works as an independent director and writer in Beijing, China.
Siyu’s bilingual works focus on female protagonists and cross-cultural issues. She was previously trained in film at Denison University in the United States.

     破碎太阳之心 - A SHORT STORY

SYNOPSIS / In this 15-minute short, we are introduced to a world seen through the point of view of a black cat. It’s a surreal, fantastical vision prompted by chance encounters, fantastical observations, and questions on communal harmony. In just 15 minutes of screen time, the elliptically titled short aims to offer a peek into its worldview. (FilmFugitives) 
 

DIRECTOR / Bi Gan, born in 1989 in Kali city, Guizhou , China. He is a director, screenwriter, poet and photographer. He won many prices for his movies Kali Blues (2015) and Long Day's Journey into Night (2018). His last movie is this fairytale 'A Short Story'.
