Liu Cixin's roman ‘Het drielichamenprobleem’ is het eerste deel van een trilogie over ruimte en tijd, en over het voortbestaan van aarde en beschaving.
Die trilogie wordt voor Netflix verfilmd door de makers van de hitserie ‘Game of Thrones’.

The Three-Body Problem’ is the first book of the ‘Three-Body Problem’-trilogy that starts during the Cultural Revolution in China. Astrophysicist Ye Wenjie sees her father beaten to death by the Red Guards. She is officially branded a traitor and is sent to a labor brigade, where she is told that she will never be a free woman again. Two other story lines - that seem to have nothing to do with one another at first sight - are brought together in an impossible, yet brilliant way.
The 'Three-Body Problem' was a breakout hit from China’s science-fiction scene, winning the Chinese science-fiction Yinhe Award (Galaxy Award) in 2006 and the Hugo Award for best science-fiction novel in 2015 as the first non-English written novel ever. The trilogy will be filmed by Netflix. Former president Obama was also lyrical about the novel: “Wildly imaginative, really interesting”.
‘The Three-Body Problem’ will be presented as part of the February edition of ‘Uitgelezen’ among other novels such as ‘Ik ben er niet’ from Lize Spit and ‘Kindertijd’ from Tove Ditlevsen.

Liu Cixin is de bekendste en succesvolste sciencefictionschrijver van China. Voor Het drielichamenprobleem kreeg Liu als eerste Chinese schrijver ooit de Hugo Award, de belangrijkste internationale prijs voor een sciencefictionroman.
